Improv Flower Block

Okay so this is crazy. Legit this block was an idea that I had as I was preparing for my visit to AGF HQ last year and like the first time it was pieced was on this video that we filmed during my visit. And now like, I have a pattern and just taught a class at Fabric Depot and am presenting this during a demo at Quiltcon 2017. The journey of this block can only be described as cray cray. So here’s the block.

And like there are no limits with this block. I made it 20″ x 20″, but it can be made any size and any color and with prints. Like legit there is no wrong way to make this block, which is super duper fun I think. And I did some bomb FMQ with my favorite Aurifil colors and turned this one into an ooh la la pillow.

And then in my class, I got to teach a group of amazing sewists and watch them  make their own flowers. Ps, I used to be a high school teacher right out of college and I totally missed teaching so being able to do this again makes me so happy happy.

But okay back to the cool students. Here are a couple of them.

And now if y’all wanna make your own, you can get the pattern here. Or you can click this image if you prefer clicking pictures.

Power to the flower!!! Woop! Woop!
