Improv EPP Heart Pillow – Machine Appliqué

Sometimes when I’m trying to answer a crafty question for myself, I make something without any intention of ever turning it into anything. That’s how this project began over a year ago. I basically wanted to see whether me slicing up a heart shape on cardstock and English Paper Piecing it back together again would look cute. And boy oh boy did it ever.

But then like I never really knew what to do with it and it sat on a shelf until this week when I decided to machine applique it using Felicia’s “blanket stitch” onto some denim and make a pillow for Helena.

And then I found some vintage pink pearl snaps that I had purchased a while ago and used it for the pillow back closure. Insert decorative stitching and ooh la la.

This week’s YouTube video goes over my process for Machine Appliqueing with some extra tips, so make sure to head over there and give it a watch.
